(October 8, 2007) CoB News, 3 October 2007 Core Dialogues As CoB faculty await more information about how new
USM President Martha Saunders feels about the business school, sources continue to report to USMNEWS.NET that the
CoB sits at the bottom of her list of priorities. Little is known at this time about what her top priorities are. We do,
however, have some information about what has piqued Saunders’ interest from the Core Dialogues process that
Saunders kicked-off at the Fall 2007 USM Convocation. Here’s word from her latest blog:

Reporters at usmnews.net have received a copy of a memo sent by Interim CoB Dean Alvin Williams to USM President
Martha Saunders, through Interim Provost Bobby Middlebrooks, asking Saunders to terminate the employment (at USM)
of USMNEWS.NET editor and accounting professor, Marc DePree. Williams’ letter is dated 21 August 2007, the same day
that Saunders penned a letter to DePree advising DePree that he was being relieved of his teaching and services
responsibilities to USM during the fall 2007 semester.
