(March 5, 2010) WHAT DR. SAUNDERS SAID, WHAT DR. SAUNDERS DID Dear Dr. Saunders,As we have
looked through records of your chancellorship at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, usmnews.net reporters have
identified some troubling issues. Concerns are magnified because of the current financial conditions at USM.
$16,000 per month plus for an airplane? Where is the nearly $1,000,000 going to come from in a couple of years to
make the balloon payment? Are you using USM and the USM Foundation as your private booze account? As faculty,
students, taxpayers and “constituents” we are entitled to know.
(March 5, 2010) More Traveling We attach a fifth receipt for air travel by the First Husband, Joe Bailey, which
appears to have been paid with Dr. Saunders’ UW-W credit card. Based on these receipts, a question comes to mind,
is USM or the USM Foundation currently paying Mr. Bailey’s travel expenses? Perhaps Dr. Saunders could
enlighten usmnews.net’s readers.
(March 8, 2010) 31st & Pearl The Incredible Shrinking Dome Recent disclosure of University of Wisconsin at
Whitewater documents show that USM president Martha Saunders engaged in a number of financial shenanigans
while chancellor there. With what we know about Saunders’ behavior at UWW, what might be going on at USM?
Hopefully one day we will all know.
(March 9, 2010, updated March 10, 2010) How Was London? Attached is receipt for what appears to be six days in
London totaling $3,547.07 for Dr. Saunders and the First Husband, Joe Bailey, which appears to have been paid with
Dr. Saunders’ UW-W credit card. We hope that Dr. Saunders and Mr. Bailey had a good time in London gratis of
UW-W. The Red Carnation, a luxury five star hotel -- what a great place for a romantic getaway to the tune of
$2,212.59. And, don’t forget the bill for the Montague on the Gardens adding another $1,888.80 to the bill.
(March 11, 2010) Dear USMNEWS.NET, I have been following your reports about how President Saunders spent
money while she was Chancellor at UW-W with great interest. After one of your readers pointed out that UW-W
paid for a very expensive trip to London for Chancellor and spouse, I found a handwritten, undated note initialed
by President Saunders saying “Reimburse pro-card with Foundation check for Joe’s fare. Thanks, MS.” I can’t help
but wonder was President Saunders using the UW-W Foundation as her personal “booze account” to fund luxury
trips for her husband? Is she now using the USM Foundation as her personal “booze account” and for what
purposes?
