(August 24, 2007) Special Report P&T Policies Proposal Codifies "The Zantow Rule" An Investigative Series on CoB Faculty Research Credentials The Breaking News piece on the CoB's proposed new P&T policies shows that the CoB's Management Team has actually codified what some in the CoB refer to as "The Zantow Rule." (September 21, 2007) CoB P&T Controversies, 2007-08 Recent reports have expressed the belief of some in the CoB that the 2007-08 promotion and tenure season will be a controversial one. That belief was supported last week when it was announced that new CoB faculty Sami Dakhlia (assistant professor of economics) and Akbar Marvasti (associate professor of economics) were applying for promotions this year. While USMNEWS.NET reporters continue to follow these and others who are expected to submit their dossiers for P&T next month, there are already at least three controversial P&T "issues" that will carry over into the 2007-08 P&T process. This report re-examines them.
(October 1, 2007) A College in Crisis by Duane Cobb New USM President Martha Saunders now knows what many of you have known for some time. That is, USM's College of Business is a College in crisis. And, though some in the CoB seem incapable of seeing it, the crisis goes well beyond the AACSB Maintenance of Accreditation process.
(October 5, 2007) Breaking News Michael to Leave the CoB LONG BEACH – With last year's negative 3rd Year Review decision, the CoB's Daniel Michael, assistant professor of management, will be leaving USM's College of Business some time in the first half of 2008. With the loss of Michael, an "Academically Qualified" management instructor, the CoB's losses since its AACSB Peer Review Team visit in early February of 2007 climb closer to 15, a figure sources say may be unprecedented in the period of time that has elapsed since then.
