President Saunders Accepts CFO Morgan’s Resignation HATTIESBURG – USM president Martha Saunders informed the campus community on 4-May-2010 that she had accepted “the resignation” of USM chief financial officer Joe Morgan, effective 30-Aug-2010. Calling Morgan “a long-time and loyal member of the Southern Miss family,” Saunders wished him well in his future endeavors through her communiqué with the USM community.

Morgan Reassigned; Willis gets Big Raise HATTIESBURG – In a move approved by the Mississippi IHL Board on 19-Aug-2010, outgoing USM chief financial officer, Joe Morgan, has been reassigned, effective 1-Sept-2010, by the Martha Saunders administration. In just a few days Morgan will become the new associate director for internal operations in the alumni affairs office at USM. Despite the significant demotion, the Saunders administration allowed Morgan, pictured below, to retain his CFO salary.
(September 3, 2010) New Interim CFO to Lead Q&A on Budget Crisis Recently appointed to USM’s chief financial post (on an interim basis), Russ Willis begins his duties by moderating a Q&A session on the USM budget crisis. According to the 2-Sept-10 issue of The Student Printz, the session is scheduled for 9:30am on 7-Sept-10, and will begin with a presentation of the details surrounding the recent $15 million cut for FY2012 that led to the Martha Saunders administration’s decision to terminate the contracts of 29 tenured and tenure-track professors.
