(August 12, 2008) Do You See What I See? by Joe Hall Valerie Wells’ 10-Aug-08 news item for The Hattiesburg American entitled
“Fingers pointed as price of books continues to rise,” and the related USMNEWS.net essay, Textbook Bad Press, are already
raising some eyebrows across the USM campus. As stated in an editorial in the 12-Aug-08 issue of The Hattiesburg American, “[a]
number of pernicious trends are at work to keep textbook[. . . prices] at almost ridiculous levels . . .”
(October 13, 2008) CoB News, 13 October 2008 October Surprise Some CoB faculty may be surprised to learn that a number of new
faces will be joining the CoB in January of 2009, just in time for the upcoming spring semester. These new hires were made by the
Alvin Williams interim administration of the CoB (2007-08), and they fall primarily in the MGT and MKT areas. However, the fact
that they occurred back in late 2007 and/or early 2008 means that the tentacles of the old Williams administration continue to get in
the way of new CoB dean Lance Nail.
