Reports for October 3 - 7, 2011
Over the past several years, usmnews.net has published literally thousands of reports from current and former faculty who share my belief that USM has ineffectively and inefficiently employed far too much of its resources, both in terms of money and people. The purpose of usmnews.net is not to provide a public relations view. That is amply supplied by The University of Southern Mississippi's public relations department.

Based on recommendations from usmnews.net's readers, we are relaunching usmnews.net. Your comments, criticisms, recommendations and news are greatly appreciated. Also, as we troubleshoot links, please let us know if you find any broken or missing links.

Dear usmnews.net, Dear USM News, Your reader’s connection of Frank Pickering’s older case in Hattiesburg against Harold Doty to the situation now confronting Mrs. [Karen] St. John in Tyler, TX at the same hands (of Doty) is a stroke of brilliance. I’m guessing that your readers from east TX know little, if anything, about Pickering’s claim against Doty, the one dealing with lewd comments made by Doty in regard to Pickering’s wife.

Special Report Series Cloudy with a Chance of Mobbing, Former CoB Dean in Hot Water Again, Part 8 The insert above indicates that, in giving St. John only 24 hours to respond to the “intent to terminate” letter delivered to her on 21-Dec-2010 by UT-Tyler (see part 7 in this series), the east Texas-based institution had violated the employee handbook (Note: University of Texas-Tyler has denied the allegations of the Complaint.)
Special Report Series ‘Oh Yes, Wait a Minute Mr. Postman’ Former CoB Dean in Hot Water Once Again PART 9 As the previous installment in this series indicates, St. John was forced by UT-Tyler officials to sign a termination letter in late December-2010. This installment picks up the story on 13-Jan-2011, when St. John informed Joe Vorsas, UT-Tyler’s human resources director, that she desired to appeal her termination.
