Reports for September 26 - 30, 2011
Over the past several years, usmnews.net has published literally thousands of reports from current and former faculty who share my belief that USM has ineffectively and inefficiently employed far too much of its resources, both in terms of money and people. The purpose of usmnews.net is not to provide a public relations view. That is amply supplied by The University of Southern Mississippi's public relations department.

Based on recommendations from usmnews.net's readers, we are relaunching usmnews.net. Your comments, criticisms, recommendations and news are greatly appreciated. Also, as we troubleshoot links, please let us know if you find any broken or missing links.

Special Report Series The Forlorn Ultimatum Former CoB Dean in Hot Water Once Again PART 3 According to St. John’s complaint (relevant portion inserted above), Doty promised to make St. John both a part-time faculty member and part-time advisor after she became pregnant, but that promise was never honored. (Note: University of Texas-Tyler has denied the allegations of the Complaint.)

Dear USMNEWS: You are opening some eyes in Tyler. Thank you for covering Karen’s [St. John] case against UTT administrators like [Rodney] Mabry and [Harold] Doty. I hate to say it, but those Southern Mississippi people may be the worst thing to happen to UTT is a long time.

Does President Saunders Have Respect for Students or Truth? How often do students, faculty, and local citizens witness the circus-like fanfare announcements made by USM with regard to new programs or initiatives? Very rarely, if ever, are there follow-up corrections.

. . . breaking news . . . Dear usmnews.net, Isn't there an eerie familiarity between Ms. St. John's claims concerning Harold Doty and those made by Frank Pickering several years ago when Doty was at Southern Miss?

Special Report Series Carpet F-Bombing Former CoB Dean in Hot Water Once Again PART 5 By 3-June-2010, the mobbing of St. John by Doty and others in UT-T’s business school reached a crescendo. As St. John’s complaint indicates, Doty “screamed and cursed at” her, “using the sexually explicit F-word inches from [her] face.” This was done, according to St. John, during the third trimester of her high-risk pregnancy, and “in the presence of students and a student worker.” (Note: University of Texas-Tyler has denied the allegations of the Complaint.)

Gore a Finalist for Legal Counsel at UWF Details arriving at USMNEWS.net offices this week indicate that former USM legal counsel, Lee Gore, is now one of four finalists for the legal counsel opening at the University of West Florida in Pensacola (see below).
Special Report Series Keechy Mean Former CoB Dean in Hot Water Once Again PART 6 By late 2010, things were going quite badly for St. John, and getting worse. According to the excerpt above, St. John was falsely accused on 5-Nov-2011 “of neglecting her duties by sleeping on the job.” This accusation was hurled at St. John by a new player in this drama – Kerri Keech (pictured below), the then-newly appointed director of undergraduate programs in UT-T’s business college. (Note: University of Texas-Tyler has denied the allegations of the Complaint.)
