Martha's Podium, An Editorial Cartoon Series from
USMNEWS.net Now that the ground is broken on the
new business building and spring 2012 commencement
is done, my second term is officially complete. With the
big things out of the way, I leave the easy tasks, like
hiring a new AD and finding the $1 million missing from
the athletics budget, to my successor.

. . breaking news . . Is Lance Nail Leaving USM for Texas
Tech?
HATTIESBURG – When Allen McInnes, the dean of the
Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University,
announced back in Sept-2011 his intention to retire at the
end of the 2011-12 academic year, the Tech community
began to search for his replacement. Now, with the
approach of summer, Tech is closing out that search with
its favored prospects visiting the Rawls College and the
Tech campus in Lubbock.
Martha’s Podium: An Editorial Cartoon Series from
USMNEWS.net With all of the craziness surrounding my
sudden resignation back on April 27 [2012], including the
groundbreaking for Scianna Hall and the spring 2012
commencement exercises, I decided to put off my final
press conference. I guess you could say I saved the best
for last.

Martha’s Podium An Editorial Cartoon Series from
USMNEWS.net I e-mailed Hank Bounds today and told
him I wanted my job back. He replied that he didn’t
know what I was up to, but that it was going to stop. I
responded, ‘No it’s not gonna stop. It’s gonna go on and
on until you face up to this situation. I just want my
presidency back. What am I supposed to do? You won’t
answer my calls, you changed your number. I mean . . .
I’m not going to be ignored, Hank’.

Dear usmnews.net,There is a disagreement among many
of the faculty who read usmnews.net whether the series
President Martha Saunders under Oath is true. Some of
us believe that the questions and answers are actually
from a deposition. Others say that no one who rises to the
level of president of a university (even a fourth tier
university) could be that stupid and/or irresponsible. Who
is right?

Martha’s Podium An Editorial Cartoon Series from
USMNEWS.net There has been a lot of talk about the
$300,000 boudoir makeover at the president’s mansion.
The truth is, it was a lot more than that. I just want to let
my successor know that the remote to the 55” plasma t.v.
near to the jet tub in the master bath is behind the Q-tips
in the second drawer to the vanity. Also, there is a trundle
bed underneath the master bed.

Dear usmnews.net, What do you think Dr. Lucas will do
with some of Martha Saunders' waste? Will he take steps to
rid the University of her overpriced airplane?

Will 2011-2012 be a Banner Year? During the 2010-11
academic year, USMNEWS.net staff followed the progress of
USM's athletics. As you can see, the Golden Eagles sports
units won only 50.1% of their contests Editor's note: As
usmnews.net has recently published reports concerning the
cost of sports at USM to students and taxpayers, and the
million dollar deficit in the program. The increasingly
spoken question on campus and in the community is what is
USM getting for your money? So that you may begin to
answer that question for yourself, usmnew.net publishes an

update to Aunt Martha’s Coaches Has Saunders Lost the
Magic Touch? Or, Did She Ever Have It?After the University
of Wisconsin at Whitewater won the Division III national
championship in 2007, USM President Martha Saunders
blogged that during the 2006-07 academic year while
Chancellor at UW-W she had hired the first-year coach who

The CoB’s Brain Drain Compilation, 2003-Present An
Illustrated Account There is little argument with the notion
that the College of Business at USM has been severely
diminished by the faculty flight that has occurred since
former CoB dean, Harold Doty, assumed the reins of
management. Doty's tenure began in 2003, when he was
hired by former USM President, Shelby Thames, to lead the
newly reorganized College of Business & Economic
Development.
