Dear usmnews.net While a few comments do not make a pattern, the word around the water cooler is the Gulf Coast is rapidly becoming little more than an administrative afterthought in the Round Building. Word is, President Bennett and his cohort of Hattiesburg administrators are only interested in USM-GC as a profit center. What are you hearing?

God Help UNO, If... University of New Orleans Peter J. Fos is looking for a Provost. He and Harold Doty have a history. Doty left USM in disgrace. Both former Dean Harold Doty and former Associate Dean Farhang Niroomand "stepped down" at the same time in mid-semester. Rumors abounded but no confirmation of the reasons for the unusual mid-semester resignations of both the Dean and Associate Dean were forthcoming.

Dear usmnews.net, Some things just want to make you scream. 4 June 2014, The Hattiesburg American reported that President Bennett is expanding on one of [Martha] Saunders' idiotic wasteful boondoggles. Saunders called hers a fence. Bennett calls his a pedestrian pathway, but it's all the same waste of money.

Paper Classes Over the past several weeks the news media has carried numerous articles reflecting claims that college athletes are being exploited by the NCAA and their colleges. University and NCAA claims that athletes are also students are being squarely challenged. Now, those athletes want a cut of the money.

Rain on the Parade? USM Rains on It Own Parade Review the two articles and ask yourself why USM did not report what the USM Foundation earned this year, a boom year in the stock market. What USM administrators don't say is often more important than what they do say.
