(February 25, 2009) Harrell Returns to N.O. Former CoB visiting assistant professor of economics and statistics Adrine Harrell has returned to New Orleans as an assistant professor in the College of Business & Public Administration at Southern University -- New Orleans (SUNO). Harrell, shown below, is listed by SUNO as a faculty in business entrepreneurship.
(February 26, 2009) All the Right Moves USMNEWS.NET’s Duane Cobb Rates the 5 Most Impressive Departures Since ‘03 With the 19-Feb-2008 departure announcements from MGT/MKT and TM Chairman, Tony Henthorne, and assistant professor of marketing, Talai Osmonbekov, the number of CoB faculty departures since 2003 gets ever so closer to 50. As such, now seems like as good a time as any to take stock in how well those departed did in their initial moves from the CoB. Here, I present my Top 5. (March 4, 2009) Explain the Brain Drain 4-March-2009 Rambo 2 The 4-March-2009 update to The CoB's Brain Drain 2003-Present, Part 2 revealed the addition of Advances in Accounting, Finance and Economics.
(May 9, 2009) Just an Old Sweet Song In and Around USM’s College of Business Reports continue to arrive at USMNEWS.net offices about former CoB faculty who are moving around the country. The latest of these is Franklin Mixon, who is heading to Mercer University for the 2009-10 academic year.
(May 17, 2009) Making a Point of It A Look at the Distances between Former CoBers and the CoB An unusually large number of faculty have departed the CoB since 2003. That date is significant in that it represents the beginning of the Harold Doty administration of USM's b-school. That administration, one that was characterized by turmoil and failure, would last until 2007. Table 1 below lists those former CoBers who left USM for other academic environs in 2003 and thereafter. Also included there is the number of miles between these former CoBers and USM's b-school.
(June 7, 2009) Special Report Like Fine Wine In light of the recent USMNEWS.net editorial The Games, reporters at USMNEWS.net compiled data on the age of the institutions that have hired the former CoB faculty who left USM in 2003 or later. Those data are presented in Table 1 below. Enjoy.
(June 10, 2009) Clark Checking Out After an extensive USMNEWS.net investigation, it appears as though CoB associate professor of finance John Clark is headed to the University of Missouri – Kansas City. Interestingly, Clark was hired by the CoB in 2003, after a tenure-track run at UMKC that began in the late 1990s.
(Updated, 10-June-09) Former CoB Fish in Other Ponds THE BEST JOBS LANDED BY DOTY ERA FORMER COB FACULTY Interest about where former CoB faculty are now working is always high among regular readers of USMNEWS.net. This brief report takes a look at the Top 15 jobs landed by CoB faculty who departed the CoB during or after the Harold Doty era (former CoB dean, 2003-07) of the CoB. We begin with the Top 15 jobs landed by these former CoBers at "National Universities" according to U.S. News & World Report's America's Best Colleges 2009. These are listed in TABLE 1 below:
