(December 12, 2008) CoB News, 12 December 2008 “Sunday Morning With . . . Susan” The CoB’s Center for Economic
Education director, Susan Doty, recently sat down with Sid Salter, Perspective Editor of The Clarion Ledger, to talk
about economic education in Mississippi and life in the CoB, all for Salter’s weekly public interest series, “Sunday
Morning With . . .” In the 16-Nov-08 interview, Salter asked Doty to inform TCL readers about her involvement with
the Mississippi Council on Economic Education. According to Doty (see below), she became involved with the MS
Council on EE in the summer of 2004, when her husband, former CoB dean Harold Doty, led the effort to establish the
CEE in the CoB at USM.
(January 24, 2009) Time for a Center Swap The College of Business (CoB) has two Centers: The Center for Financial
Services (CFS) and the Center for Economic Education (CEE). The CFS is really a “Peripheral” for Financial Services
(PFS) because it is a black hole that sucks money and other resources while providing the CoB nothing in return.
(January 26, 2009) GH Chatter A number of recent USMNEWS.net reports have discussed the fact that Susan Doty, the
wife of former CoB dean Harold Doty, was hired as an economics instructor by the CoB during the latter Doty’s reign
as dean (2003-07). Some recent chatter now has it that the former dean perhaps regrets having his spouse around JAG
Hall so much these days. If so, this is just another interesting twist and turn in the bizarre daily saga that is USM’s
b-school.

Center for Economic Education, continues to make the rounds with her teacher-training (in economics) program
(March 30, 2009) Breaking News Was Susan Doty "Let Go"? HATTIESBURG – Examination of the Fall 2009 teaching
schedule suggests that CoB economics instructor Susan Doty, wife of former CoB dean/current MGT professor D.
Harold Doty, has been “let go” by the Lance Nail administration.
(April 1, 2009) GH Chatter Word around Greene Hall these days is that economics instructor Susan Doty (“Ms. Doty”)
may not have been “let go” after all, as reported previously. The story now is that she will soon be teaching business
administration and management courses.
