(April 14, 2009) Our Most Talented Colleagues A Look at the Numbers This series has presented what sources refer to as
Dakhlia's ruse in a new light by showing that the talent lies with those faculty who had been targeted by CoB
administrators and their supporters, such as Dakhlia -- i.e., the ones Topping spoke for. It is in the number of unique
A-level journal publications that the real abilities of "our most talented colleagues" shines through. This final installment
(part 10) in the series summarizes previous results, using Table 1 below. It indicates that for two-thirds of the CoB, the
reign of D. Harold Doty meant little short of destruction, with some units experiencing losses in unique A-level journal
publications per person in the 2.7 to 3.1 range. Of the one-third of the CoB still holding its own, ACC and FIN are being
held togother almost solely by Marc DePree and James Lindley, respectively. These are CoB faculty held in disdain by
Doty (et al.). The other unit, DS, has maintained itself despite past attempts by Doty to eliminate it altogether.
(April 15, 2009) Can and Will Unique A-Level Publishing Across USM's B-School The recent series Our Most Talented
Colleagues revealed some interesting information about the number of unique A-level journal publications in USM's
CoB. This report puts some of that information, which is scattered across the first 9 (of 10) episodes of that series,
together in one place. Table 1 below presents that information, as it provides a ranking of current CoB faculty by the
number of unique A-level journal publications.
(Updated, 14-April-2009) The CoB's Brain Drain, 2003-Present -- Part 2 An Illustrated History There is little argument
with the notion that the College of Business at USM has been severely diminished by the faculty flight that has occurred
since former CoB dean, Harold Doty, assumed the reins of management. Doty's tenure began in 2003, when he was
hired by former USM President, Shelby Thames, to lead the newly reorganized College of Business & Economic
Development. It ended in April of 2007, just after the CoB had received an ominous report from the AACSB requiring a
6th Year Maintenance of Accreditation Review, when Doty and his associate dean, Farhang Niroomand, "resigned"
amidst suspicion and speculation.ons.
