DR. RODERICK POSEY, PROFESSOR OF ACCOUNTING,
FORMER INTERIM DEAN, FORMER DIRECTOR SCHOOL
OF ACCOUNTANCY
(February 5, 2009) Things Stay the Same, Things Stay the Same Though SAIS director Steven Jackson and accounting
professor Roderick Posey may now be touting their Spring/Summer 2008 publication in the Journal of Business &
Economic Perspectives, USMNEWS.net has learned that the accomplishment is weakened by factors other than the relative
obscurity of the journal itself. The insert below shows that three of the CoB's accountants, including Jackson, serve on the
JBEP's editorial review board.
(February 5, 2009) CoB News, 5 February 2009 Roderick Posey, CoB Dean and “. . . a modest man” Numerous reports here
at USMNEWS.net have indicated that CoB accounting professor Roderick Posey serves as a pastor in the Hattiesburg-area,
and that his duties as a pastor impede upon his ability to perform his work for USM and Mississippi taxpayers – a job
Posey is paid well over $100,000 per year to do. The screen below supports the claims of prior reports by showing that
Posey is indeed a local pastor. As the screen below indicates, Posey is the Pastor of Hopewell M.B. Church in Collins, a
town located about 40 minutes from Hattiesburg.
(February 24, 2009) Missing & Musical Professorships What Happened to the Williams & Parham-Bridges, and Who
Should Hold Them? The CoB has a few professorships. The list includes (1) the Morgan Distinguished Professorship in
Accounting, (2) the Draughn Distinguished Professorship in Healthcare Marketing, (3) the McCarty Distinguished
Professorship in Information Systems, and (4) the Kaetsu Distinguished Professorship in International Business. Not
included among this list are the Williams Distinguished Professorship in Minority Entrepreneurship and the
Parham-Bridges Distinguished Professorship in Real Estate. These two are omitted from the list of four above not because
they aren't funded. No, they have been funded, and in the case of the Parham-Bridges, the funding is substantial and it has
been around (i.e., in the USM Foundation) for quite some time.
(April 6, 2009) Cheaper by This Dozen Twelve Current CoB Faculty USM Dean Lance Nail Could Stand to Lose by Duane
CobbPicking up where my recent ranking of CoB faculty that CoB dean Lance Nail can’t afford to lose (Behind the 8) left
off, this report ranks the top 12 current CoB faculty that dean Lance Nail can’t afford to have hang on for an extended
period. That is, without these 12 CoB faculty, the CoB’s ranking amongst Gulf South business schools would certainly rise
higher. Since this list is 50% longer than the last, let’s get right to it:
(April 13, 2009) Dear Skip: Another way to begin a change in Accounting is to announce that all faculty vita are public
information and will be regularly maintained by the Department online. Any issues raised such as the Posey “more than
100” publications will be addressed immediately and will be shown to be true or removed from the vita and all College
and University websites. Further, if the Morgan Professorship was awarded to Posey on the basis of this claim, and if that
claim proves to be unfounded, then Posey will lose all rights, privileges, and money associated with it back to the date he
assumed it. It would be a positive start to change the culture.
