JOSEPH PEYREFITTE, ASSOCIATE DEAN, COB, USM
(April 23, 2007) CoB News, April 2007 April has been a topsy-turvy month in the life of USM's College of Business. On 10
April 2007, USM received the "resignations" of both CoB Dean D. Harold Doty and CoB Associate Dean Farhang
Niroomand. USM President Shelby Thames and USM Provost Jay Grimes selected, on 10 April 2007, professor of

of management Joseph Peyrefitte to serve as the CoB's Interim Associate Dean.

(May 7, 2007) George Carter on Subjective Evaluation EFIB Chair George Carter leaves no opening for surprise. It's one
misstep after another, one fly in the ointment followed by two more. The latest gaffe comes from the 4 May 2007 CoB
faculty meeting, wherein Carter expressed his views on subjective grading of CoB students, as part of a conversation with

comparison of administrative salaries. Take a look at the following data: Academic Year Administration Salaries 2007-08
Williams-Peyrefitte $291,850 2006-07 Doty-Niroomand $296,862 The combined salaries of Interim CoB Dean Alvin
Williams and Interim CoB Associate Dean Joseph Peyrefitte fall within 1.7 percent of the combined compensation of their
predecessors, former CoB Dean Harold Doty and former CoB Associate Dean Farhang Niroomand. However, when it
comes to pay that is where the similarity ends for these two administrations.
(October 8, 2007) CoB Power Line A Look at Who Holds the Reigns of Power in the CoB by Duane Cobb The CoB has
devolved into such an academic banana republic of sorts that it is probably useful to take stock, from time to time, of just
who holds the most political power there. Without question political power in the CoB waxes and wanes, just as it does in
any of the typical unstable, tin pot hot spots around the globe. That's what updates are for.
