COLLEGE OF BUSINESS, CURRENT DEAN, UNIVERSITY OF
HOUSTON AT VICTORIA
(November 26, 2008) GH Chatter Some CoBers are reporting that former CoB associate dean Farhang Niroomand
recently lost out on a nice, new job opportunity, and he did so to a former CoBer. Hopefully more details will come out
soon. This promises to be an entertaining news item.
(December 9, 2008) BREAKING NEWS Are the Eyes of Texas Upon Niroomand? HATTIESBURG – Sources not far
from CoB economist Farhang Niroomand say that the former CoB associate dean is looking to become the new
business dean at the University of Houston – Victoria. Niroomand served as AD under both former CBA dean
William Gunther (1998-2003) and former CoB dean Harold Doty (2003-07), wherein, according to insiders, Niroomand
controlled, at least in large part, the reins.
(December 10, 2008) CoB News, 10 December 2008 Houston – Victoria Has Eyes Yesterday’s Breaking News story
about the possibility of Farhang Niroomand becoming the next dean of business at the University of Houston –
Victoria has readers buzzing. A recent visit to the UH – V website revealed that the university is advertising for the
position. Whether or not Niroomand makes the cut for it is another story, though sources indicate that he has a “close”
relationship with current UH – V president Tim Hudson, the former provost at USM. Look for follow-ups on this story
here at USMNEWS.net in the coming days.
(December 15, 2008) GH Chatter Speaking of new deans, old deans, borrowed deans and blue deans, some are
amused that former USM provost Tim Hudson, now the president of the University of Houston at Victoria, might be
considering former CoB associate dean Farhang Niroomand to lead UH-V's business school (as its new dean). Surely
there are enough concerns about Niroomand that Hudson will think better of the .opportunity.. As far as concerns
about Niroomand go, one of the best stories making the rounds is called "Bobbing for Bs". If you happen to walk up
and into a discussion of it, you'll want to stick around.
