FARHANG NIROOMAND, FORMER ASSOCIATE DEAN,
COLLEGE OF BUSINESS, CURRENT DEAN, UNIVERSITY OF
HOUSTON AT VICTORIA
(April 2, 2007) usmnews.net Reporter . . . . . . . . . . . . DEVELOPING STORY April 2, 2007 HATTIESBURG --- It appears that
CoB Dean Harold Doty has once again diminished the in-house political power of CoB Associate Dean Farhang
Niroomand. As CoB faculty left work on Friday evening (3/30/2007), or were arriving to work on Monday morning
(4/2/2007), they were met by the following e-mail from Doty, announcing the consolidation of all business law
courses/faculty in the CoB:
(April 3, 2007) Heroes and Storytellers In a recent usmnews.net report, readers were treated to some of Management
Professor Stephen Bushardt’s views on rewards, specifically the Hero/Storyteller Culture. This columnist began thinking
about exactly who the Heroes and Storytellers currently are in the CoB and who might be next. Remember that Heroes
aren’t really heroes; they are simply the individuals who are the poster children for how the corrupt Bushardtian
Establishment wants things done. As a word of note, there is a third category added – Hybrid – that denotes individuals
who are used in different situations at different times. What follows is a best guess list for each category.
(April 4, 2007) 31st & Pearl Under Niroomand's Green Thumb An interesting theory about Evelyn Kwan Green's
employment in the CoB landed in our offices shortly after the Special Report on Green's private business was uploaded. It
concerns "why" Green was brought into the CoB, and it is really very interesting.
(April 5, 2007) The Persianization of USM’s College of Business A number of usmnews.net readers have commented that,
with the recent announcement that Barry and Laurie Babin are departing USM’s College of Business after spring semester
2007, Associate Dean Farhang Niroomand (see below) appears to be attempting to rebuild his power base within the
CoB’s administrative structure.
(April 10, 2007) EDITORIAL Today The University of Southern Mississippi announced that Dean D. Harold Doty and
Associate Dean Farhang Niroomand had resigned from their administrative positions, effective immediately. During a
meeting with Provost Jay Grimes, the College of Business faculty was advised that Dean Doty would not be returning to
campus until the fall semester. Given the destruction wreaked on CoB by Dr. Doty and his administrative cohorts, this
editor, the reporters and contributors to usmnews.net consider this to be – at least in the short term – positive news. It will
truly be positive news if Interim Dean Alvin Williams works to eliminate the divisiveness and atmosphere of favoritism
created by Dr. Doty and his subordinates.
