(March 23, 2001 . . . breaking news . . . AT&T Goes to Sevier, Brandt Apparently Vacated HATTIESBURG – CoB management instructorctor Amy Sevier was the big winner (among the CoB’s faculty) at the recently-held 2011 CoB Awards Banquet. Sevier, pictured below, received the AT&T Outstanding Teaching Award, marking the first year in some time that the award has gone to someone outside of the CoB’s School of Accountancy. Sevier’s win also marks what is believed to be the first time that an instructor has taken home the AT&T Award, an outcome sources say is somewhat troubling, given that there are so few occasions for recognizing tenured/tenure-track faculty.
(May 18, 2011) . . . breaking news . . . King Takes 2011 Louis K. Brandt Research Award HATTIESBURG – Though it may have taken a while for the news to come, USMNEWS.net’s prediction about the CoB’s 2011 Louis K. Brandt Research Award race came to fruition a few days ago, as CoB legal studies professor Ernest King was announced as the winner. King’s portfolio rested largely on two A-level publications over the 2009-10 eligibility period -- one in the Journal of Real Estate Finance & Economics, and the other in Applied Economics.

Brandt Research Award results are barely in the record books, yet it is time to take an early look at how the race for the 2013 LKBA is shaping up. Only four months into the 24-month eligibility period that covers 2011-12, there are a few CoB faculty already beyond the starting gate.

The USMNEWS.net report entitled “Is the CoB’s Louis K. Brandt Award Becoming a Political Football?” contains a section (entitled “The 2005 Award: CoB Meets Watergate”) that tells the story of former CoB marketing chairman Barry Babin’s 2005 LKBA win.
(December 1, 2011) The Farm News Briefs from Southern Miss 1-December-2011 Goodwin Awarded Parham-Bridges Professorship After many years of neglect, the CoB’s Parham-Bridges Distinguished Professorship in Real Estate is finally back on line. That professorship was recently awarded to CoB assistant professor of real estate and finance, Kimberly Goodwin, who joined the CoB during the Alvin Williams administration (2007-08).
