(December 1, 2008) 1 Month An Update to the 2009 Louis K. Brandt Predictions With only about 30 days remaining in
the eligibility period for the 2009 Louis K. Brandt Research Award, associate professor of MIS Fujun Lai looks to be
destined to win the award. Since we last updated the race, only Ernest King, Akbar Marvasti and Harold Doty have
made significant moves. King jumped to 3rd, just one spot ahead of Chang-Tseh Hsieh, with his recent publication in
the B-level Journal of Real Estate Research. On the heels of his recent A-level hit in Applied Economics, Marvasti
climbed into the top 10 (at 9th) just management’s Jennifer Sequeira. Finally, Doty’s unrated (and dubious) Journal of
Current Issues in Finance, Business & Economics moved him out of the large logjam at the end and into sole possession
of 34th place.

USMNEWS.net reports focused on predicting the outcome of the race for the 2009 Louis K. Brandt Research Award.
The most recent one, published about one month prior to the 31-Dec-08 deadline for the LKBA portfolios, showed how
far ahead of most other CoBers' portfolios that Fujun Lai's portfolio stands. It will be interesting to compare the actual
outcome with this prediction.

provided our most recent prediction on the race for the CoB's 2009 Louis K. Brandt Research Award. That report, which

(January 8, 2009) The 2008 USMNEWS.net CoB Person of the Year by Duane Cobb 1. Fujun Lai – all year long we have
been following the research successes of decision sciences’ Lai through the pages of USMNEWS.net. And, all year long
we have been amazed. When Lai picks up the 2009 Louis K. Brandt Faculty Research Award at the student awards
banquet in a few weeks, I hope that part of the gleam in his eye comes from thinking about (at that very moment) also
being the 2008 CoBPoY.
(January 30, 2009) CoB News, 30 January 2009 Crowning King Lai Supported by two recent publications, accounting
professor Marc DePree climbed out of a three-way tie for 10th and into sole possession 9th place in the race for the
2009 Louis K. Brandt Research Award. On the basis of an additional publication, CoB economics professor Edward
Nissan jumped from 16th place to 14th place.
(January 29, 2009) CoB News, 29 January 2009 No Lai-ing Down Yet Our earlier report 1 Month, published around
1-Dec-08, showed that CoB decision sciences associate professor Fujun Lai was a virtual lock for the 2009 Louis K.
Brandt Research Award. With the premier-level hit Communications of the ACM, and A-level publications in both the
International Journal of Production Research and the International Journal of Quality & Reliability Management, Lai’s
publications in the Transportation Journal, Industrial Management & Data Systems (2), Supply Chain Management,
Total Quality Management & Business Excellence, and the Journal of Supply Chain Management hardly seemed
necessary in declaring that Lai would ultimately take home the award this spring.
