(August 19, 2008) CoB News, 19 August 2008 URGENT: Get Your CoB Golf Shirt Now! On 14-August-2008, CoB faculty and staff received an e-mail marked "URGENT." The subject line of that e-mail read "CoB Golf Shirt Orders," and the e-mail message was from Meredith Cothern, the CoB's new development officer. That e-mail is inserted below.

(August 27, 2008) CoB News, 27 August 2008 Nail Classing Up "EFIB Fridays" After being on the job only a few weeks, new CoB dean, Lance Nail, has already classed up Sami Dakhlia's weekly EFIB seminar series. Through a co-authorship connection, at the elite-level Journal of Financial Economics no less, Nail has secured a fall 2008 date for Bill Megginson, the Rainbolt Professor of Finance at the University of Oklahoma. Some of the different journals in Megginson's research portfolio are shown below.

All that has remained since Nail came on board on 1-July-08 is some word from Nail himself. That word finally arrived via e-mail on 27-August-08, and USMNEWS.net is able to bring that to you here. (September 8, 2008) CoB News, 8 September 2008 More of Nail Needed, Not Less A recent CoB News installment pointed out that, through a co-authorship (and perhaps other) connection, new USM dean, Lance Nail, had landed a visiting engagement from University of Oklahoma distinguished finance professor, Bill Megginson.

(September 8, 2008) GH Chatter CoBers continue to speculate about what new dean, Lance Nail's, first big announcement will entail. Some are saying that he has raised money for one or more new professorships, and will announce that soon. Others guess that it will involve a restructuring of the CoB in form or fashion. The first CoB meeting under Nail's leadership is right around the corner. Maybe something will come from that.

(September 15, 2008) CoB News, 15 September 2008 Nail's First Foray New CoB dean Lance Nail has convened his first official CoB-wide faculty meeting, and some early reports are starting to reach USMNEWS.net headquarters. The meeting, which lasted the better part of two hours, was attended by USM President Martha Saunders and USM Provost Bob Lyman.
