(March 30, 2009) LSU’s Hughes Accepts Nail’s Offer to Lead ACC HATTIESBURG – Reports have reached USMNEWS.net offices indicating that LSU accountant Kirby “Skip” E. Hughes II has accepted CoB dean Lance Nail’s offer to direct the CoB’s new School of Accounting. According to reports, Hughes will take over the position some time after 1-July-09, or when the CoB’s new six-department structure takes effect.
(April 2, 2009) GH Chatter Apparently the rumors about dean Lance Nail being upset about CoB faculty “barging” into his office were true. Sonia Gaines-Littles’ e-mail asking CoB faculty to show at least some modicum of respect for the office of CoB dean is quite an embarrassing moment for CoB faculty. Having to be told that an open door is not a blanket invitation to come in shows the kinds of characters that Nail chose to associate himself with when he departed the University of Alabama at Birmingham for USM. One only wonders if the deal-makers and heart-breakers among the CoB faculty who are responsible for such bad behavior will even be fazed by such a request from SG-L.
(April 6, 2009) New Year’s Rockin’ Chairs Where CoB Dean Lance Nail’s Plan to Hire 6 New Chairs Stands Today If you have been thinking lately that CoB dean Lance Nail’s plan to staff the CoB’s six new departments with six outside chairs has hit a snag, you are probably correct. It is the first of April-09 already, and only one new outside chair has emerged. This one came by way of Kirby E. “Skip” Hughes, an associate professor of accounting at LSU who will soon take over the CoB’s new accounting school.
(April 9, 2009) 31st & Pearl Getting Back to What is Important Now that Drexel University’s Jacqueline Garner has officially declined CoB dean Lance Nail’s invitation to chair the CoB’s new FINRELS department, it’s time to get back to the important tasks of a college of business.
(April 13, 2009) Wrong Message, Wrong Mode, Wrong Moment, Wrong Minister In a world in which Lance Nail can ill afford serious missteps, the CoB Dean of nine months may have made (or, at the very least, sanctioned) one of the poorest decisions of his entire administrative career by authorizing construction and dissemination of the above email from CoB Dean’s Office secretary Sonia Gaines-Littles to the collective CoB Faculty.
