(October 22, 2008) Carter's Mercenaries A Look at How George Carter's Politics May Ruin the Nail Administration Have no doubts about it, EFIB chairman George Carter is on a mission to bring down the new Lance Nail administration of USM's College of Business. And, with the hiring and firing and "friendraising" efforts Carter has made over the past two decades, he may indeed pull it off before it is all over. This column is Part 3 in a three-part series of opinion pieces that will attempt to explain just how Carter may pull off the coup that some in the CoB are hoping for and others are nervous about.

(December 16, 2008) Dear Santa: Can’t you make this DePree guy go away? He is more of a pain when he is not here than when he is here. I do not need any help looking foolish. You also need to make the economy better because I need raises, not the lack of raises and budget cuts. If they keep looking for money for these cuts, I may get exposed for the little I do for what I am paid. While you’re at it, get rid of this Nail guy as dean; he is not playing ball with us in Accounting. Just who does he think he is? Everyone does what we say. If you cannot handle this, that is fine; just say so. I will call Carl again. I mean it. Patty
(May 18, 2009) Save the Date In and Around USM’s College of Business Accounting instructor Patty Munn has three summer courses. (September 14, 2011) Party in the C-o-B Identifying the B-School’s Easiest Profs A recent trip to ratemyprofessors.com yielded a list of the easiest professors in USM’s College of Business. Students who visit the website are asked to rate their professors, with one option being to rate the “ease” of each professor’s course(s). With 5 being “easiest” and 1 being “most difficult,” the five easiest faculty in the CoB are presented in Table 1 below.
(December 8, 2011) They Owe It to the World It is sad to report another shooting on the Virginia Tech campus. However, it is time that the School of Accountancy comes to the assistance of Virginia Tech and other universities. School of Accountancy faculty, including Patricia Munn, Steven Jackson, Gwen Pate, and Mary Anderson, claim they can predict who is dangerous, can snap, and shoot people. This is wonderful! Experienced forensic psychiatrists admit that they cannot make such predictions. Yet these accounting faculty claim they can.
