(April 19, 2008) DONE DEAL? More than just a few people find the behavior, since coming to the CoB in August of 2006, of assistant professor of economics Sami Dakhlia puzzling. First, a failed tenure-track ride at the University of Alabama turned Dakhlia into what EFIB chairman George Carter refers to as a professional “pariah.” From that position one would think that Dakhlia would have begun his tenure-track ride in the CoB more cautiously.
(June 17, 2008) Dr. Dakhlia on the First Amendment A Look at Sami Dakhlia's Grievance Against USMNEWS.NET Two weeks after standing before CoB faculty and staff, who were assembled for the end-of-year CoB meeting, and presenting a proclamation that disparaged Marc DePree, assistant professor Sami Dakhlia filed a grievance against DePree, editor of USMNEWS.NET. Dakhlia's grievance was filed on 17-May-07 with USM Provost Jay Grimes and Interim CoB Dean Alvin Williams. The e-mail from Dakhlia containing that grievance is inserted below.
(June 20, 2008) CoB News, 20 June 2008 "The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round" Although the testimony above generally speaks for itself, it's always interesting when USMNEWS.NET's Duane Cobb gives us his take on things. Commentary from Duane Cobb Legal counsel asked Munn: ". . . where did you get your college education?" In answering that, Munn revealed she had a bachelor's degree from Mississippi College and bachelor's and master's degrees from USM. A few questions and answers later we find out that the bachelor's degree from USM was complete fiction. Lawyers are trained to ferret out these bread-and-butter sorts of things, which is what legal counsel did in this case. However, many lines later legal counsel tells Munn that she has a master's degree from the University of South Carolina, which Munn then admits to earning in her "first . . . life." Clearly, this legal counsel took a course, or courses, in breaking down the testimony of witnesses who believe in reincarnation. Now that's special.
(October 17, 2007) Breaking News Is the CoB Tail Wagging the CoB Dog? HATTIESBURG – The recent series of stories about the mobbing of USMNEWS.NET editor Marc DePree by various officials in the central administration and College of Business at USM has sparked a great deal of interest with USMNEWS.NET readers. To add to that series, USMNEWS.NET reporters have obtained a copy of a so-called "mobbing letter" written by CoB accounting instructor Patricia Munn. Munn's letter of 20-Aug-07, shown below, is written to SAIS Director Steven Jackson, and calls for Jackson to terminate the employment of DePree.
