(July 19, 2007) 31st & Pearl 365 Give or take a day or two, it's been one year since usmnews.net began "opening up" the College of Business at USM. And, with the exception of creosote, the CoB has seen revelations about almost everything imaginable in the world of academics. Secret degree programs, special summer teaching deals, a 4th-Year Review, a "Letter of Agreement," surprise resignations, and AACSB probation. Yes, all of that, and more, packed tightly into a 12-month time frame.
(July 19, 2007) Anne Jordan’s Case Typifies USM by Duane Cobb Anita Lee’s (of The Sun Herald) article in the 19-July-07 issue of The Hattiesburg American entitled “Despite long legal fight, woman hasn’t gotten $300K from USM” describes an historical situation involving former USM professor Anne Jordan that typifies the sort of malevolence that seems to ooze out of the administrative corridors of USM.
(July 20, 2007) Breaking News Management & Marketing Hires Glascoff HATTIESBURG – A source has informed USMNEWS.NET reporters that the Department of Management & Marketing at USM has hired marketing professor David Glascoff (D.B.A., M.P.H.) to replace former CoB marketing professor Barry Babin, who left the CoB after 2006-07 to assume the reigns as a departmental chair at Louisiana Tech University. Glascoff comes to USM from Western State College of Colorado, located in Gunnison, Colorado. (Editor's note -- Dr. Glascoff has departed USM)
(July 20, 2007) Breaking News EFIB Hires Ranck as Associate Director of the BBER Gautier – In a move that sources say will come as another surprise to EFIB (and CoB) faculty, EFIB Chairman George Carter has hired Dr. Edward Ranck as the Associate Director of the Bureau of Business and Economic Research. In a 20-July-2007 USM Press Release (see below), USM constituents learn that Ranck has been hired as the Associate Director of the BBER, which is now located at USM’s Jackson County teaching site in Gautier. Ranck received a doctorate from the University of Kentucky in 1976, giving him a connection to the BBER’s Director, professor William Gunther.. (Editor's note -- Dr. Ranck no longer appears on the USM directory)

(August 9, 2007) Breaking News EFIB Chair George Carter Hires Salter’s Replacement HATTIESBURG – Reporters at USMNEWS.NET have learned that EFIB Chair George Carter has signed Hsiao-Fen Yang, a PhD student in finance at Louisiana State University, to replace former CoB real estate assistant professor Sean Salter. Salter resigned from the CoB just days ago, and has taken a similar position with Middle Tennessee State University.
(August 9, 2007) Breaking News EFIB Chair George Carter Fills the Malik Hole at USMGC GULFPORT – Coast beat reporters at USMNEWS.NET have learned that EFIB Chair George Carter has signed Adrine Harrell of New Orleans to replace former assistant professor of economics Farooq Malik. Malik vacated his post in economics with the CoB in order to join the finance group in the College of Business at the University of Southern Mississippi.
