rapid pace in the Economics area in the College of Business, the junta gets more scared, more agitated, and more
desperate. More reports will be forthcoming before the Christmas break about some of the events involving the Eco cabal.
(December 1, 2008) The facebook CoB There is no doubt that the CoB is experiencing a changing of the guard. A new
generation of CoB faculty is taking over, and reports here at USMNEWS.net have shown that this new guard is not as
interested in academic research as past generations.
(December 22, 2008) Top Stories of 2008 by Duane Cobb 6. CoB Faculty/Administrators Deposed -- A number of CoB
faculty and administrators were deposed during the spring/summer of 2008 as part of a federal court case concerning a
personnel issue in the CoB. Through the publication by USMNEWS.net of parts of these depositions, the USM
community was provided new information about the way CoB faculty and administrators behave.
(January 8, 2009) The 2008 USMNEWS.net CoB Person of the Year by Duane Cobb Although 2008 didn’t bring anywhere
near the drama brought by 2007, there were still some interesting stories that developed. There were also some
interesting individuals amongst CoB faculty, a few of whom deserve mention for the 2008 USMNEWS.net CoB Person of
the Year. After examining the accomplishments of a handful of individuals, a few received an “Honorable Mention” for
the 2008 CoBPoY award:
(January 14, 2009) CoB News, 14 January 2009 Spring ’09 Begins Spring semester 2009 has begun, and already USM
students are focusing on the high cost of textbooks and a looming tuition increase. Though they are happy to return to
school for the new semester, according to Ed Kemp’s 13-Jan-09 article iin The Hattiesburg American, USM students like
Freda Clark are spending at least $400 for textbooks this time around.
