(December 6, 2007) 31st & Pearl Niroomand's Statements on "Early P&T" Miss the Mark Throughout his recent political campaign in support of the 2007-08 P&T files of second-year CoB economists Sami Dakhlia and Akbar Marvasti, former Associate Dean and economics professor, Farhang Niroomand, made a number of faulty and contradictory statements about the merits of the two cases. On one hand, Niroomand stressed that these two had been in academia about eight and 24 years respectively, and therefore there was nothing at all "early" about their promotions.

(December 28, 2007) Dear USM Pride, Next, regarding what you all are calling Akbar Marvasti's "2007-08 P&T Gambit," I have been told that Marvasti is a resident of the Timberton neighborhood. That is the same d<**>n neighborhood that Charles Sawyer, Marvasti's supposed "external reviewer," resides in. That has to be a first, and is something beyond the pale, even for USM.

As the leader of this year’s EFIB search team, Marvasti’s selection of finalists is “turning heads” in and outside of Joseph Greene Hall. It looks like making the CoB “a fun place to work” might be high on the agenda again.

In The CoB's 2006 Summer Teaching Deals Explained, USMNEWS.NET reporters explain how Carter, the chair of EFIB, gave preferential summer teaching salaries in the summer of 2006 to economists Edward Nissan and Charles Sawyer (now with TCU), while Trellis Green and Ernest King, also EFIB faculty, were denied those same salary deals.
