(February 27, 2007) Research Records of Departing Marketing Faculty When the news broke on 26-Feb-2007 that three
marketing professors were departing the CoB, many wondered what marketing's future prospects were as a result. The news
is not so good for marketing, as this brief report indicates.
(March 2, 2007) Always at the Scene What did George Carter Know about Laurie Babin's work on the Academic Integrity
Policy, and when did he Know it? Investigators at USMPRIDE.COM have obtained an interesting document that
sheds new light on the CoB's "copy" of the Whitman School of Management's (Syracuse University) Academic Integrity Policy.
A number of reports have been posted to this website in recent days showing that the CoB's Academic Integrity Policy was
copied, the better part of word-for-word, from a document available on Syracuse University's website. CoB Dean Harold Doty,
who initiated CBED efforts to create an academic honor code, was employed as a Chair in Syracuse's Whitman School of
Management prior to coming to USM in the summer of 2003.
(March 2, 2007) A Plagiarized Policy on Plagiarism? by Duane Cobb The recent revelation that the CoB's Academic Integrity
Policy was copied, the better part of word-for-word, from Syracuse University's Whitman School of Management is barely a
surprise to many in the CoB. Since the beginning of 2006-07, USM's College of Business has been in a state of turmoil resulting
from a number of ethics-challenged decisions made by the CoB's administration. Now, the recent prediction on this website --
that we may be on the eve of a national AACSB scandal -- appears to be coming to fruition
(March 26, 2007) "Out of the Frying Pan . . ." What is Laurie Babin Walking Into at UL-M? Just a few short weeks ago
usmnews.net broke the story that three marketing faculty -- Barry and Laurie Babin, and Tara Lopez -- resigned from USM's
College of Business effective at the end of spring 2007. Each of these three had accepted an offer with a Louisiana-based
institution (Louisiana Tech University, University of Louisiana, Monroe, and Southeastern Louisiana University, respectively)
and will be headed west in just a few short weeks.
(April 13, 2007) Local Academicians Comment on Plagiarism Reporters at usmnews.net have provided a number of reports and
analyses of what appears to be at least two major cases of plagiarism within D. Harold Doty’s Administration (2003-2007) of
USM’s College of Business. These two cases involve copying by CoB personnel of (1) AACSB documents written by officials at
Central Missouri State University and (2) an academic honesty code written by officials at Syracuse University, Doty’s previous
employer.
