DR. ELIZABETH LAFLEUR, PROFESSOR OF MARKETING,
COORDINATOR OF GRADUATE PROGRAMS
(September 4, 2006) SEDONA Files "… In this issue we visit the SEDONA records of Elizabeth LaFleur (Professor of
Marketing). We start with the now public CoB Profitability Spreadsheet (available at www.usmpride.com) that lists a
number of interesting facts, including each individual's grant contributions to USM. Three CoB faculty are listed as
being involved with grant work. Farhang Niroomand and Sharon Topping have been known to engage in grant
projects. The third, however, is Elizabeth K. LaFleur, whose line item in the profitability spreadsheet reports a $68,500
grant income to USM…".
(November 24, 2006) Special Report A Jury of Your Peers? An Investigation into the CoB Advisory Committee’s Role in
the Grievance Process This report takes a look at the CoB Advisory Committee’s role in the Faculty Grievance process.
This subject has sparked interest in usmpride.com readers since the filing of two separate Grievances in recent weeks
– one by professors Marc DePree and Tom Lindley, and another by professor Franklin Mixon. Both of these
Grievances were initiated against the actions of EFIB Chair George Carter, and the details of both are available at
usmpride.com.
(January 11, 2007) Above Your Pay Grade? Military men (and women) often use expressions that reflect their
experience in the military. One such expression is “That’s above your [my, our] pay grade.” This saying is used to
indicate that the recipient of the statement has no business involving himself or herself in whatever “that” is. This
particular expression has been (over)used by EFIB Chair George Carter through the years as part of his crusade to
create a culture of detached submission among rank and file faculty, but the concept is supported by almost all
administrators in the CoB
(April 3, 2007) Heroes and Storytellers In a recent usmnews.net report, readers were treated to some of Management
Professor Stephen Bushardt’s views on rewards, specifically the Hero/Storyteller Culture. This columnist began
thinking about exactly who the Heroes and Storytellers currently are in the CoB and who might be next. Remember
that Heroes aren’t really heroes; they are simply the individuals who are the poster children for how the corrupt
Bushardtian Establishment wants things done. As a word of note, there is a third category added – Hybrid – that
denotes individuals who are used in different situations at different times. What follows is a best guess list for each
category.
