(September 4, 2006) DEVELOPING STORY NEW ORLEANS - "At the August 2006 CoB faculty meeting, Dean Harold Doty introduced CoB faculty to Steve Jackson, an accounting professor at Loyola University in New Orleans. Doty informed the CoB that Jackson would be joining USM's School of Accountancy and Information Systems in January of 2007. Doty also stated that Jackson's hire was the result of the CoB's new strategy of raiding New Orleans' higher education community --- a community weakened by the lingering effects of Hurricane Katrina. Finally, Doty suggested that this new strategy might be yielding more fruit for the CoB in the near future...".
(April 6, 2007) SAIS News, April 2007 A number of interesting news items are coming out of the CoB’s School of Accountancy and Information Systems (SAIS) these days.
(May 24, 2007) CoB News, May 2007 Though the spring 2007 semester has officially come to an end, there are still a number of news stories involving various CoB officials to report on. This issue (May 2007) of "CoB News" is set to do just that. Enjoy.
(June 12, 2007) Breaking News Jackson to Head the SAIS HATTIESBURG – Staffers at USMNEWS.NET have learned that Interim CoB Dean Alvin Williams is planning to fill the vacant SAIS Director slot with the CoB’s own Steven Jackson (show below on the campus of Loyola University in New Orleans, though photo appears on USM’s website). Jackson, who came to the CoB in January of 2007, reportedly was not among the applicants in the “national search” that was initiated under the direction of Barry Babin, Chair of MgtMkt. However, sources have not confirmed/denied this information. We do know that former CoB Dean D. Harold Doty reported to AACSB officials that the USM central administration approved a salary offer of $170,000-$175,000 for the position, though it is not know at this time whether or not Jackson will receive such an amount. Sources tell USMNEWS.NET that Jackson will most likely be paid somewhere in the $130,000-$140,000 range.

Further review of the SEDONA vitae of the CoB’s accountants has turned up another potential anomaly, this one involving the SAIS’ newest faculty member, associate professor of accounting Steven Jackson. Listed at the top of his group of “Refereed Publications,” Jackson’s 2007 SEDONA vita shows:
(July 11, 2007) 31st & Pearl Black Knew Then What We Know Now So many CBA faculty thought it completely silly that, during the Ty Black administration of the college, faculty had to submit actual copies of their scholarship at annual review time. The running joke was that it was bush league, that reputable schools don't operate in that way. Well, Black knows people, at least CoB (then CBA) people, as good as or better than most. Black knew then that co-authors would mix up the citations of their work, as we saw in last year's Sedona records for Stephen Bushardt, David Duhon and Francis Daniel. Black knew then that the accountants could appear to be shifty in reporting their accomplishments.
