DR. JAMES HENDERSON, FORMER ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF
ACCOUNTING, FORMER VICE PRESIDENT FOR FINANCIAL AFFAIRS
(November 24, 2006) Special Report A Jury of Your Peers? An Investigation into the CoB Advisory Committee’s Role in
the Grievance Process This report takes a look at the CoB Advisory Committee’s role in the Faculty Grievance process.
This subject has sparked interest in usmpride.com readers since the filing of two separate Grievances in recent weeks –
one by professors Marc DePree and Tom Lindley, and another by professor Franklin Mixon. Both of these Grievances
were initiated against the actions of EFIB Chair George Carter, and the details of both are available at usmpride.com.
(April 6, 2007) SAIS News, April 2007 A number of interesting news items are coming out of the CoB’s School of
Accountancy and Information Systems (SAIS) these days.
(April 30, 2007) Get To Know… Jim Henderson Jim Henderson, the former USM VP of Finance, seems to be enjoying the
good life since returning to the CoB faculty. Efforts to track down Henderson’s research agenda began in 1990 and
ended in 1991 with a total of 3 published articles during that period. There are no traces of research before or after that
period on Google® Scholar or Business Source Complete.
(May 16, 2007) Special Report If Posey Gets to be a Full, Why Can’t Henderson? An Investigative Series on CoB Faculty
Research Credentials Reporters at usmnews.net have compiled a table that begs an interesting question: If Roderick
Posey gets to be a full professor of accounting, why can’t Jim Henderson? That table – Table 1 below – presents the
refereed journal articles produced by Posey and Henderson over their respective careers. As the bottom of the table
indicates, Posey began at USM in 1979, and earned his Ph.D. one year later in 1980. He was promoted to professor in
1991. Henderson began (tenure-track) a little later, in 1988, though he earned his Ph.D. back in 1980 (the same year
Posey earned his). He has been an associate professor of accounting since 1991.
(May 24, 2007) Money, Money, Money, Money Consulting and Paid Service in USM’s College of Business This report
examines the consulting and paid service that faculty in the CoB are performing, at least according their own SEDONA
files (as of May 2007). As you will see below, some of the CoB’s least research-active faculty are engaging in significant
amounts of consulting and paid service, all of which enhances their (in some cases bloated) USM salaries. At the bottom
of each consulting/paid service bio below, we provide salary data for 2006-07 along with a projected salary for 2007-08.
Enjoy.
