DR. ZAHER HALLAB, FORMER ASSOCIATE
PROFESSOR OF TOURISM MANAGEMENT
(August 21, 2007) Tourism Management News, 21 August 2007 We have a number of
interesting news items to report from the Tourism Management Department as we begin the
2007-08 academic year. A few of these are detailed below.
(September 11, 2007) CoB News, 11 September 2007 The Invisible Man Reporters have received some news about
former tourism management associate professor Zaher Hallab, who departed USM's CoB at the end of spring 2007.
Hallab is now on faculty at California State University – East Bay. The insert below shows Hallab's fall 2007 teaching
schedule for CSU – EB.
(September 24, 2007) CoB News, 24 September 2007 CoB Fundraising Grinds to Halt If you've wandered by the CoB's
Development Office in recent weeks, you've noticed that the door is locked and the lights are off. That's because the
CoB's fundraising officer, Emile Dieth, is now serving as the Interim Executive Director of USM's Foundation. Dieth's
replacement, if there is to be one, has not reached Joseph Greene Hall yet. That means that whatever fundraising
programs were underway when Dieth departed the CoB over the summer of 2007 are no longer operating at full
throttle.
(July 19, 2008) Why All of the Hallabaloo? Long before the CoB's AACSB Maintenance of Accreditation Peer Review
Team reported back in April of 2007 that there were problems on the scholarly activity front in the CoB, reporters here
at USMNEWS.net were writing and posting reports to that effect. And, in some cases at least, these reports were coming
out far enough in advance for CoB administrators to act on them, and perhaps cut off some of the CoB's potential
AACSB woes before they actually came to fruition. That was not to be, however, as CoB administrators so often
squandered the organization's sparse resources on one bad idea or another.
