(October 5, 2007) GH Chatter, The Jim Henderson chatter from our last installment gets even more interesting. Some faculty are
saying that Henderson boasted, at the 4-May-07 CoB faculty meeting, about having "bombed" more undergraduate students than
any other faculty present in the meeting room (JGH 303). What is it with some faculty accounting faculty wanting to see students

(October 8, 2007) CoB Power Line A Look at Who Holds the Reigns of Power in the CoB by Duane Cobb The CoB has devolved
into such an academic banana republic of sorts that it is probably useful to take stock, from time to time, of just who holds the
most political power there. Without question political power in the CoB waxes and wanes, just as it does in any of the typical
unstable, tin pot hot spots around the globe. That's what updates are for.

on the so-called “2007-08 P&T Jailbreak Train” continues to pervade Greene Hall water cooler conversations as well as the news
pages of USMNEWS.NET. One of the passengers on that train is associate professor of economics Akbar Marvasti, who was

year in USM’s College of Business, Marvasti submitted his application for promotion to full professor in September of 2007.

The Hattiesburg American entitled "Headed toward a recession?" indicates just how anxious Hattiesburg-area residents are
about the future of the U.S. economy. One would think that the CoB's own Bureau of Business and Economic Research would
have contributed significantly to this story, however BBER Director Bill Gunther is noticeably absent from the report.

that Interim CoB Dean Alvin Williams is working on a contract that is paying him $175,000/year came as a shock to many readers
of USMNEWS.NET. After more than a decade of turning down offers to lead USM’s College of Business, it seems to many now
that Williams’ past decisions were all about money. Given readers’ response to reports about Williams’ current salary,
USMNEWS.NET reporters have searched our archives and found data (for the past 15 years) on the merit raises that the CoB’s
Deans, past and present, have “awarded themselves.” Some of the results are a bit a surprising.
