(October 19, 2006) Special Report Are Bill Gunther and UWF old Friends? An Investigative Series on CoB Faculty Salaries "A
previous installment in the Special Report series examined some of the documentation surrounding former CBA Dean/current
professor of economics Bill Gunther’s 2004 summer employment with the University of West Florida. The offer letter to
Gunther, from UWF Dean Edward Ranelli dated 20 April 2004, indicates that UWF and Gunther had crossed paths before the
summer of 2004. Near the end of the letter, which is included as an Appendix to this report, Ranelli writes:...".
(October 3, 2006) Just How Unstreetable is CoB Dean Harold Doty? "Former CBA Dean Bill Gunther occasionally remarked
that he had few “streetable” faculty in the CBA. Given Gunther’s talents at fundraising, and current CoB Dean Harold Doty’s
apparent lack of proficiency in this area, we begin to wonder more and more just how “unstreetable” Doty must really be.
Stories have circulated again and again in the CoB about this or that mis-statement made by Doty in a public setting. One has
to look no further than his own job talk at the University of South Florida to see several examples of that...".
(October 10, 2006) Is the BBER Feathering Gunther’s Nest? "... So, is Gunther taking his $150,000 (approx) salary+fringes from
the CoB, funded through the generosity of Mississippi taxpayers, and providing professional services to the citizens of another
state? It appears so. Gunther’s presentation to the Baldwin County (AL) Economic Development Alliance presumably was
designed to benefit businesses in the Baldwin County area of Alabama. What was the benefit to South Mississippi? We would
assume nothing, unless South Mississippi businesses are able to secure a video tape of the presentation and can get some of
the “expertise” that they are partially paying for through Gunther’s $120,000 salary. ..".
(October 20, 2006) Special Report What is Carter’s Attack on Dissenters Costing the CoB? An Investigative Series on the use of
the CoB’s Budget "This Special Report examines some of the extraordinary moves being made by EFIB Chair George Carter to
suppress dissent in his department and in the College of Business. As usmpride.com has reported, Carter orchestrated the
“Black Tuesday” re-vote in the EFIB (19 Sept 2006) that resulted in a duly constituted 3-faculty governance committee being
disbanded (see “Black Tuesday” page at usmpride.com). Finance professor James Lindley and accounting professor Marc
DePree have filed an official University Grievance regarding the “Black Tuesday” situation. New evidence pouring into
usmpride.com indicates that Carter is now orchestrating a campaign of retaliation and harassment directed at those who spoke
out against the Black Tuesday coup...".
