(May 18, 2007) Special Report If Posey Gets to be a Full, Why Can’t Green? An Investigative Series on CoB Faculty Research Credentials Reporters at usmnews.net have compiled a table that begs an interesting question: If Roderick Posey gets to be a full professor of accounting, why can’t Trellis Green be a full professor of economics? That table – Table 1 below – presents the refereed journal articles produced by Posey and Green over their respective careers. As the bottom of the table indicates, Posey began at USM in 1979, though he earned his Ph.D. one year later in 1980. Green began a little earlier, in 1983, earning his Ph.D. the following year (1984). Green was promoted to associate professor of economics in 1998.

(May 31, 2007) Was Green Right? One Day Later, and Carter’s IHL Commissioner Claim Looks More Like “Fraud” Yesterday’s (30-May-07) report on EFIB Chair George Carter’s claim to have been the Interim Commissioner of the IHL (in 1987) contained an interesting dialogue between economists Trellis Green and Charles Sawyer. Green’s take on Carter’s claim was that the it represented (resume) fraud, while Sawyer offered the reduced charge of (resume) “puffery” as a counter to Green. Neither claim is complimentary of Carter, and the points-of-view from one (Green) to the other (Sawyer) are about as widely spaced as possible. Green had to file a lawsuit against Carter (in 1994) in order to get promoted to associate professor, a case Green ultimately won out of court in 1997, while Sawyer has been a Carter apologist/sympathizer throughout both of Carter’s terms as EIB/EFIB chair (i.e., 1989-1997, and 2005-present). So, the idea that Carter’s claim falls somewhere on the line from puffery to fraudulent, coming from these two, is a staggering indictment of the CoB’s former ethicist-in-residence (Carter).
(August 27, 2007) Breaking News Green Takes Carter's Overload Course and $5,000 HATTIESBURG – In a follow-up to a prior reports here at USMNEWS.NET (see Carter Ramps Up Clinical Teaching Gig and Was Carter's Clinical Teaching Program Nixed?), reporters have learned (through SOAR) that associate professor of economics Trellis Green has taken on the overload section of ECO 201 that was put up "for sale" by EFIB Chair George Carter.
(September 21, 2007) Green, Marvasti, Neither, or Both? Exploring Various Promotion Scenarios in USM’s College of Business, 2007-08 News reports at USMNEWS.NET have indicated that associate professor of economics, Akbar Marvasti, has submitted his dossier for promotion to professor. Marvasti has been an associate professor at USM for one year so far, and by the end of the 2007-08 P&T process at USM, he will have been an associate professor at USM for two full years. Another associate professor of economics at USM, Trellis Green, has held that title since 1997, or for more than 10 years. Green has not heretofore submitted his application for promotion to full professor, though it is not known whether he will or not before the departmental deadline for 2007-08 consideration.1
(October 1, 2007) A College in Crisis by Duane Cobb New USM President Martha Saunders now knows what many of you have known for some time. That is, USM's College of Business is a College in crisis. And, though some in the CoB seem incapable of seeing it, the crisis goes well beyond the AACSB Maintenance of Accreditation process.
