(June 6, 2007) 31st & Pearl Academic Fraud Abounds in the CoB Recent articles regarding the Accounting faculty at
USM have highlighted a decades-old issue: Academic Fraud. In fact, issues related to Academic Fraud have been
one of the key points in usmnews.net's (and, previously, usmpride.com's) investigative reports over the past year.
Sami Dakhlia, Harold Doty, and others may claim that usmnews.net's reports are "lies," "mischaracterizations," or
"misinformation," but such claims only underscore the lack of honesty with which these individuals operate.
(June 12, 2007) 2007 Merit Raises in the CoB A Step Forward or the Last Straw? If reports coming out of the CoB’s
Management & Marketing Department are accurate, the unrest that results from revelations of the CoB’s 2007
merit raise process may reach unprecedented levels. Though the lack of transparency in raises and other
evaluation processes has troubled USMNEWS.NET officials for some time, the 2007 merit raise process at USM is
breaking new ground when it comes to concerns about transparency from a broader based constituency.
(June 24, 2007) How Many CoB Faculty Were Terminated in 2006-07? The release of the May 2007 IHL Board
Meeting Minutes supports comments from USMNEWS.NET readers indicating that one or more CoB faculty may
not have passed the tenure process during the 2006-07 academic year. According the IHL Board, the following USM
faculty received tenure at the end of the 2006-07 academic year:

contains all of the 2006-07 CoB faculty who are returning for the 2007-08 academic year. Along with the names are
the relevant CoB units and other "notes" about various faculty. In most cases, the "notes" section lists various CoB

(July 5, 2007) Breaking News Sawyer’s Pay Exceeds Budget Line by 15% HATTIESBURG – Word is spreading
around the CoB that former economics professor Charles Sawyer was paid “more than $107,000” during the
2006-07 academic year, a figure that does not include any payment for summer teaching. Sources tell
USMNEWS.NET that, according to the story, Sawyer’s USM salary is supposed to be about $92,500, yet he earned
“more than $107,000” during this past academic year, his last before retiring from USM’s College of Business.
