the Mississippi IHL’s summer 2011 meeting, new CoAL interim dean Steven Moser’s salary is going up almost
30%, from $106,585 to $137,500 per year. This massive increase comes from Moser’s promotion from senior
associate dean of the CoAL to interim CoAL dean, a move that was necessitated by Denise von Herrmann’s recent
departure. Now the new provost at Oglethorpe in Atlanta, von Herrmann previously served as CoAL dean at USM.
(July 11, 2011) Breaking News USM Faculty to Receive Merit, Equity Raises Less than one year after announcing
that almost 30 USM faculty would be terminated in an effort to deal with massive budget cuts related to the
sagging U.S. economy, USM president Martha Saunders recently announced that USM faculty are set to recieve
both merit and equity raises heading into the 2011-12 academic year.
