(July 1, 2008) CoB News, 1 July 2008 Good Ol' Boy Awarded Kaetsu Professorship CoB management professor, David Duhon, continues to soar to new heights. Two years after being promoted to professor, Duhon was named interim chair of two CoB departments, management/marketing and tourism management. Now, just weeks later, Duhon is set to become the Kaetsu Distinguished Professor of International Business, beginning with the 2008-09 academic year. This marks not only another milestone that Duhon has achieved in the past few years, it is also an achievement that Duhon's rival, EFIB chair George Carter, has yet to achieve.

(August 1, 2008) CoB News, 1 August 2008 What Beef does Carter have with Laatsch? A recent installment in the Special Report series here at USMNEWS.net touched upon the fall 2008 teaching schedule that EFIB chair George Carter delivered to new finance professor Francis Laatsch. As that report indicated, Laatsch will be teaching one section of FIN 300, one section of FIN 310 and one section of REI 340 in his inaugural semester in the CoB. Sources indicate that this schedule seems "out of bounds," and it is in no way congruent to the treatment that Carter has extended to other new EFIB faculty. In particular, it does not match Carter's treatment of economist Akbar Marvasti, whose academic career began around 1985, and who joined the CoB in August of 2006, more than 20 years after beginning his academic career.
(September 11, 2008) Special Report The 4 "Ds" CoB Administration Stipends, 2008-09 Two veteran CoB faculty took on important administrative posts to begin the 2008-09 academic year. These are Donna Davis, professor of MIS, and David Duhon, professor of MGT. Davis assumes the role of Interim Director of Graduate Academic Services, while Duhon has accepted the position of Interim Chair of the MGT & MKT department. With these two appointments, both of these CoB faculty were moved from 9-month contracts to 12-month contracts. At the same time, their "annual" compensation figures rose.
(September 11, 2008) Help a Guy Out 10 Retirements that Would Make the CoB Better and Nail’s Job Easier by Duane Cobb To hear some tell it, by accepting Martha Saunders’ invitation to govern the CoB, new dean Lance Nail has walked into a snake pit-like situation. Though the problems in USM’s business school are both vast and deep, they are not insurmountable. However, Nail’s job would be made a lot easier if a number of CoB faculty who are thought to be in the “retirement window” would sign the necessary PERS acceptance papers and exit stage left. This essay lists the top 10 CoB faculty fitting this description. It provides some narrative as to why these ten were both chosen and ordered as they are here.
(September 21, 2008 ) 31st & Pearl Kaetsu Kronies The choice of current interim chair of management and marketing, David Duhon, to hold the Kaetsu Distinguished Professorship in International Business was pretty much the last straw for those who were holding on to the hope that CoB cronyism was breathing its last breath. The choice of Duhon, the management prof who needed a so-called "letter of agreement" to reach full professor status in the CoB, marked the second straight time that the Kaetsu was held by a sitting administrator.
