(May 24, 2011) Special Report Five CoB Faculty Tenured in 2011 Five of USM’s b-school faculty received tenure from the Mississippi IHL during that governing body’s May-2011 meeting. These five CoBers join 35 other USM faculty in being awarded tenure by the IHL. The five CoB faculty are:

A Guest Viewpoint The USM business college’s (CoB’s) two newest accounting faculty, Kirby “Skip” Hughes and Michael Dugan, were said to be big-time researchers. Hughes came to USM from LSU, while Dugan came in from Alabama – both top tier national universities. However, a recent perusal of the CoB’s School of Accountancy’s (SoA’s) new journal articles webpage reveals that these two scholars are now publishing in the same types of low-level journals in which so many of the CoB’s long-time accountants have been, and are still, publishing.

(August 24, 2011) Dear usmnews.net, From reports around the College of Business, Horne Professor Michael Dugan is becoming most of the School of Accountancy. He is the MPA Director as well as on most committees that need an Accounting representative.
(September 8, 2011) Ego Busting A Guest Column by Victoria Tyler The recent letter to the editor regarding CoB accountant Michael Dugan’s ego is as enlightening as it is humorous. At the top of Dugan’s publication list at usm.edu, at least as of 6-Sept-2011, are a couple of 2009 publications in the Journal of Applied Business Research and the Academy of Accounting and Financial Studies Journal. Why would such low-level hits require ego stroking?
