D. HAROLD DOTY, FORMER DEAN, COLLEGE OF
BUSINESS, CURRENT DEAN, UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT
TYLER
(January 3, 2007 ) CoB-Induced Salary Inversions at USM The lastest report to hit USMPRIDE.COM regarding salaries
at USM (see headline below) points to a number of inversions created by CoB Dean Harold Doty’s method of awarding
“equity adjustments” to white guys and “market adjustments” to PERS slaves.
(January 4, 2007) On Transgressions What makes a “transgression”? Committing an error, having a lapse in judgment,
overstepping authority or proprieties, or other wrongdoing – that is what a transgression is. Chairman Carter said he
committed a transgression against Dean Doty and asked him to forgive him for it. Confession and repentance is a
proper approach. What about the other – and similar – transgressions against others in the CoB?
(January 8, 2007) 31st & Pearl Doty’s Legacy, and Gall CoB Dean Harold Doty has gall. He has the gall to stand in front
of CoB faculty, as he did in December of 2006, and critically remark that former CBA Dean Joseph Greene’s standard
for raises was “who had the children last.” It takes gall to make such a statement when one’s own standard seems to
be “who has the biggest mortgage” or “who has the most expensive lifestyle.” Doty’s CoB is far from a meritocracy. In
fact, Greene’s college may have been more like a meritocracy than Doty’s, now that USM has ushered in the research
focus that was not part of Greene’s world.
(January 8, 2007) An Island Series: Bushardt as a William Golding Resident or as Gilligan? Dr. Stephen Bushardt,
senior Management Professor, former CoB administrator, frequent kitchen cabinet member, and self-absorbed king
maker: undoubtedly he has been a busy telephone worker over the Christmas break. Doty calls on him for his take on
Carter’s transgressions, Carter’s calls seeking advice on what to do and when to do it, other toady calls wanting inside
information on the events and the fall-out from it, and, mostly, lots of time hand-wringing as he ponders how to best
benefit himself from this situation. This is the zenith of Bushardt-world: how can calamity, chaos, and cacophony work
for me?
(January 10, 2007) Reflections on the Digital MBA Program At the conclusion of the spring 2005 semester, the CoB
faced a “Hybrid MBA” program proposed by CoB dean Duane Harold Doty. The proposed program would put
selected MBA courses in an online format with “limited” face to face contact and/or video links.
(January 3, 2006) Another Doty Scam Uncovered: Economics Hiring 2007 "Previous reports at www.usmpride.com
uncovered the strong connections among Harold Doty, Susan Doty, the Mississippi Council on Economic Education
(MCEE), the Bureau of Business and Economic Research at USM (BBER), and the Center for Economic Education at
USM (CEE). To recap, Harold Doty is a board member of the MCEE and Dean of the USM CoB, which oversees the
BBER, which in turn oversees the CEE. Susan Doty is the “lead educator” for the MCEE, working primarily through the
CEE at USM. Confused? Don’t be..."
