(October 9, 2006) Dean Doty's Unfortunate Tendency to Neologism "We shall consider the details of Dean Doty’s memorandum in response to our grievance one issue a day. (Click here for Doty’s response.) Our thought for the day: Dean Doty has single-handedly rewritten the Faculty Handbook. Apparently he believes he is the legislative, judicial, and executive branches of governance. Doty’s addendum to the Faculty Handbook includes the Minimal Sufficiency Doctrine. Grievances must “meet the minimum sufficiency requirements for initiating a faculty grievance” as understood in Dean Doty’s mind."
