(April 29, 2009) USMNEWS.net Reader Snippets RE Doty to UT-Tyler “What a surprise! The [UT-]Tyler folks did
not know of Susan [Doty] or that she was a new faculty member with them. . . . this news [i]s only the first surprise
of many, and they will get much worse. . . . Am I the only only laughing that [Harold Doty] will be there [working at
UT-Tyler] the Monday after finals/commencement here [at USM] on Friday? Talk about pent-up administrative
lust . . . .”
(May 5, 2009) Brandt in Two In and Around USM’s College of Business The loss of Susan Doty (ECO) from the
EFIB marks the 60th CoB faculty to leave the CoB since the beginning of the Harold Doty administration in 2003.
Susan Doty will join the economics department at the University of Texas at Tyler in August-09. Susan's husband
Harold, the former CoB dean (2003-07), will become dean of business and technology at UT-T in just a matter of
days from now.
(May 7, 2009) 31st & Pearl A Collective Sigh Former CoB dean Harold Doty's stint in USM's College of Business has
come to an end. That stint has been nothing short of tumultuous from the jump, beginning with the infamous
individual faculty interviews in 2003, and ending with the failed attempt at AACSB re-accreditation in 2007. Now,
Doty is the University of Texas – Tyler's problem, and as he prepares to leave Hattiesburg for the east Texas locale
you can almost hear a collective sigh throughout Joseph Greene Hall.
