(August 5, 2008) CoB News, 5 August 2008 The Doty Channel Total views of the YouTube version of then-CoB dean Harold Doty's Sept-2005 speech to faculty and administrators at the University of South Florida have climbed to 750. In one of the most embarrassing displays in recent memory, Doty told those assembled in Tampa, where he was interviewing for the post of business school dean, that "private money" is the "fun money" in that administrators have greater discretion over its use, as opposed to public funds ("E&G dollars").
(August 25, 2008) Harold Doty to Teach 4-days/Week Schedule in Fall '08 USMNEWS.net has learned that former CoB dean, Harold Doty, is teaching a 4 days/week load during the fall 2008 semester. According to the 15-Aug-08 version of the Registrar's schedule guide, Doty will be teaching two sections of human resource management (MGT 364) and one section of management principles (MGT 300). The relevant portions of the schedule guide are inserted below.

That excerpt (shown below from CoB News, 19 August 2008) spoke to the situation where former deans rejoin their faculty years after last engaging in their own academic/scholarly pursuits only to find that things have changed significantly over the years. As Bedeian explains, some former deans can’t overcome the disconnectedness that has occurred, and they begin to exhibit aberrant forms of behavior.
(August 26, 2008) Doty on the Block Another Look at the Former CoB Dean’s Fall 2008 Teaching Load The 25-August-08 USMNEWS.net report on former CoB dean Harold Doty’s fall 2008 teaching load is drawing much interest from readers. That story indicated that Doty is teaching a 3-course and 3-preps load across four days each week. Specifically, Doty’s schedule is:
(August 29, 2008) CoB News, 2 September 2008 “Welcome to the Jungle . . .” Just 12 days after a USM document revealed former CoB dean Harold Doty’s 4-day/week, 3 course, 2 prep fall 2008 teaching load, and only five days after an updated version of that same USM document showed how that teaching load worsened for Doty, the USM Registrar’s Office has released another fall 2008 schedule update showing that the end of 2008 will likely be remembered by Doty for quite some time. According to that update (relevant portion shown below), Doty’s section of MGT 300 has grown again, this time by almost 2%, while his “re-opened” section of MGT 364 has since (over 5 days) grown by a whopping 17%.
