(October 15, 2007) GH Chatter From all of the chatter surrounding the 2007-08 P&T season, the proceedings in the CAC are going to be exciting. One or more CAC members in each department have withheld voting at the departmental level in order to join the fray at the College (CAC) level.

(October 22, 2007) Ethics Update, October 2007 There are a number of interesting stories on the ethics front in the CoB to update USMNEWS.NET readers on. Let’s get started.
(October 24, 2007) A Third Checkbook? by Duane Cobb Some of the stuff USMNEWS.NET readers send to us is really, really intriguing. Some of it is just plain amusing. After watching "Doty Describes the 'Fun Money'" video on YouTube, one reader noticed that at the point where Doty says he's "got two checkbooks" . you remember . . . the "booze account" and the "non-booze account" . Doty is actually holding up three fingers (including thumb), not two. To this picture our reader asks . "What's the third checkbook?"
(November 6, 2007) Breaking News Problem Solved? HATTIESBURG – After the CoB’s AACSB Peer Review Team departed from Greene Hall in early February of 2007, CoB faculty waited and waited and waited for official word on the PRT’s thoughts about the CoB’s Maintenance of Accreditation efforts. The only word to reach CoB faculty seemed to come only from Barry Babin, the former chair of the management and marketing department. Babin told various faculty that the PRT found minor issues, such as there not being any place for CoB-Gulf Coast students to eat at the GC campus following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, that warranted a so-called “6th Year Review.
(November 8, 2007) Can Doty and Niroomand Master the Art of the “Pick Up”? by Duane Cobb It’s no secret to those following events in USM’s College of Business that its former Dean, D. Harold Doty, has been attempting to land a new job since arriving at USM in 2003. Until early April of 2007, he was doing so as the CoB’s incumbent Dean. Now, later on in 2007, he does so as just another CoB faculty member. For those of us who watched his early, clumsy attempt to land the Dean’s post at the University of South Florida – yes, “watched;” the video is on the worldwide web – we got to see what looked like a nerdy teenager trying to ask Jessica Alba to the junior prom.
