(March 22, 2007) Art Bedeian on "Dean's Disease" With Commentary by Duane Cobb Arthur G. Bedeian is an
academic known to many in USM's College of Business. A management professor, and former editor of the
Journal of Management, his name is widely known within the management group in the CoB. Bedeian's LSU
connections make him known to others, such as Barry and Laurie Babin in marketing.
(March 26, 2007) The Peer Review Team was so Impressed, CoB Got Probation! Dean Doty circulated an
e-mail to the CoB faculty reporting that something wonderful had happened to the CoB. The AACSB Peer
Review Team had awarded CoB continuing review (probation). In Dean Doty’s exact words “[a]s you will see,
the team was very impressed with our progress and with the things we are doing. I would like to thank each of
you for the efforts you have made to contribute to our progress. I spoke with Ted [Cummings, Chairman of the
AACSB Peer Review Team] late Wednesday to make sure I understood all the recommendations. He again
said that we don’t need to do anything different, but we need to keep doing what we have been doing since
the new standards took effect 3 and ½ years ago. We have great momentum and the team will visit again next
year to be sure we continue the momentum.” Hey this is great! The Peer Review Team was so impressed with
our performance they want to visit again next year.
(March 26, 2007) AOL Czar Revisited Dean Doty circulated an e-mail to the CoB faculty reporting AOL Czar
Revisited It seems like everyone agrees that the CoB needs a person to be in charge of the AOL efforts for
re-accreditation – an AOL Czar (or Czarina); everyone except Harold Doty, that is.
(March 27, 2007) Is Dean D. Harold Doty’s Presence Ruining the CoB’s Faculty Hiring Efforts? The main page
news ticker at usmnews.net recently scrolled a breaking story --- that a third candidate in the most recent
attempt to hire a new Director for the CoB’s Center for Economics Education had turned the offer down. As a
recent usmnews.net investigation revealed, this most recent attempt began in November of 2006, and
followed an attempt from the previous year wherein two other candidates, both internal, refused the honor of
Directing CoB Dean D. Harold Doty’s new Center. Sources tell usmnews.net that the succession ofoffers – all
