We think they should be here, after all no group has a bigger interest in the CoB than they do, and so we welcome them. CoB students, your future is now. (March 9, 2007 ) Two Boondoggles are Better than One by Duane Cobb I was recently informed by usmnews.net Reporter that the CoB's Center for Financial Services is now working to help CoB Dean Harold Doty's spouse, Susan, in her campaign to provide economic education instruction to Mississippi educators. This new plan calls for a financial literacy effort, supported by the CFS and its Director John Clark, that would reach students and/or educators throughout South Mississippi. As a result, two of the CoB's centers -- the CFS and the Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER) -- will be fully engaged in Susan Doty's education initiative.
(March 7, 2007) 31st & Pearl Disgraceful Exits There’s almost nothing drearier than watching those CoB faculty who are nearthe end of long careers at USM fall into the sinkhole that the Duane Harold Doty administration has become. The latest, and perhaps saddest, example of such an enterprise is accounting professor Charles Jordan’s attempt to save Doty’s bacon by seeking permission to copy (after the fact), “without proper citation,” Central Missouri State University’s AACSB definitions (for participating and supporting faculty). Yes, you read that correctly – “without proper citation,” and these are Jordan’s own words describing the CoB’s attempt to mask the origin of much of its AACSB documentation.
(March 15, 2007 ) Industry Experience One of the requirements for new hires under the Thames administration – and one that has been adopted by the Doty Administration with relish – is the requirement that candidates for faculty positions possess “Industry Experience.”
(March 15, 2007) Said, Meant, Reality
Said: We have not received any letter or other official word from AACSB.
Meant: This is really bad and we are trying to find a way to spin this nightmare to a daydream.
Reality: We ask for a delay for all administrators who can retire or get other jobs to be able to get
gone before we are officially in trouble with AACSB.
