(February 22, 2007) What once was, now will be . . . again The Tale of an AOL Director The AACSB organization has everyone believing that AOL (Assurance of Learning) is a very important thing in all colleges of business. Whatever the current buzz words may be, the idea certainly makes sense.
(February 26, 2007) The CoB's Long Nightmare will Continue At Least that's what the Silence on AACSB Says to Us It's been about 2 and 1/2 weeks since the AACSB Peer Review Team left Hattiesburg, and there still is no official word from the CoB Dean's office about what they concluded/found. Of course, we do have the stories put out by Management/Marketing Chair Barry Babin and EFIB Chair George Carter suggesting that the Team found enough problems to warrant a 6th year/Continuing Review. That means a small cadre of AACSB representatives will be visiting the CoB, this time around February of 2008.
(February 26, 2007) A View From The Other Side A paraphrased quote about Harold Doty from a Syracuse faculty member every time there is an interaction with this faculty member:
(February 26, 2007) Is there any of us left there anywhere? A document as critical as the report to AACSB for re-accreditation had parts plagiarized from another school. All we know by way of explanation or defense are plaintive cries that “everyone does it” so it is “no problem”. Now we have the ultra-ironic and deeply sad next situation of the CoB’s Integrity Policy being lifted from former Doty employer, Syracuse. I guess everyone does that too. In fairness, Bill Gunther wanted to cut-and-paste a lot of Alabama’s policies and procedures on us when he was inflicted upon us. That did not make it right, but we did not plagiarize from Alabama (as far as we can tell so far).

(February 26, 2007) Special Report The Latest Allegation of Administrative Plagiarism in the CoB: "The 'CoB's' Academic Integrity Policy Came from Syracuse University" The allegation of the administrative plagiarism in the CoB involving AACSB documents is only beginning to heat up (see Open Letter to USM President Shelby Thames and IHL Commissioner Thomas Meredith), yet another plagiarism allegation appears poised to shake the foundation of the D. Harold Doty Administration. Evidence has been forwarded to usmpride.com indicating that the CoB's Academic Integrity Policy, adopted in the months after the arrival of Doty in the summer of 2003, was taken from the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. Prior to the summer of 2003, Doty was employed in the WSM at Syracuse as a department chair.
