(January 24, 2007) "Dean Cajoled?" Hasn't Doty ever Listened to Lindley? "In the recent 19 January 2007 Assurance of Learning seminar conducted by the CoB ‘s AACSB consultant Karen Tarnoff, CoB Dean Harold Doty remarked that the CoB would not be considered a mature organization until it got to the point where AACSBwork got done without have to be “Dean cajoled.” We feel we must remind Dean Doty of a few things: You came to USM, and virtually on day one you told each and every CoB faculty they were crap (remember all of your one-on-one, get-to-know-you interviews?) ...".
(January 24, 2007) "I've Yet to Make a Mistake at USM" "Harold Doty once – okay, often – uttered those words. He would seem as sincere as he is capable of when he would say it. Let’s assume he is sincere, and he still believes it. Are any of the following events a mistake?...".
(January 27, 2007) Dear Dr. Doty "...You and your fellow administrators made demonstrably poor decisions that led to the appeals and grievances and then you allowed them to accumulate over the years. You ignored the rules and evidence and reason. You have demonstrated that you should not participate in this matter at all. Given the extraordinary animosity you have displayed toward me and the malicious, punitive conduct directed at me, you should not participate in the resolution of the appeals and grievances in any way whatsoever...".
(January 26, 2007) Are We on the Eve of a National AACSB Scandal? An Investigation into the Ethics Lapses at the Top of the CoB "With the recent statements made by the CoB's AACSB consultant, Dr. Karen Tarnoff of East Tennessee State University, USM's College of Business appears to be in the center of an AACSB scandal whose tentacles perhaps extend nationwide. Here is the sequence of events that have put the CoB in the position it sits today:..".
(January 23, 2007) The CoB's Cut-and-Paste Culture by Duane Cobb I don't know when it began, and it's probably been around for a while, but I'm almost certain that the CoB's cut-and-paste culture has never been as ingrained as it is today. This website has been reporting on it for almost six months -- long before the Dr. Cut-and-Paste column appeared here recently. Although that column referenced EFIB Chair George Carter's use of a job opening advertisement template, one created by another EFIB faculty, to prepare for a job search, CoB Dean Harold Doty is usually at the center of the cut-and-paste culture.
(January 23, 2007) 31st & Pearl Shoe’s on the Other Foot Harold Doty stomped into and out of the CoB Dean’s suite on Tuesday the 23rd of January, outraged that someone had reproduced a portion of the presentation made by Dr. Karen Tarnoff on the 19th of January at USM. In her presentation, Dr. Tarnoff stated explicitly that it is not a good idea for one school to “buy” [read: take] another school’s mission, vision, goals, standards, etc., and pass them off as its own.
