(April 9, 2008) GH Chatter Contrary to sourced speculation in the recent news story entitled Retread Redux, talk around the CoB is that Chang Tseh-Hsieh will not be extending his “helping hand” to assist newly hired CoB-GC MIS faculty, Dale Lunsford. The story is that Lunsford’s hiring was promoted solely by MIS professor Donna Davis, and if Lunsford struggles again it will be up to Davis to keep him academically qualified. Also, the fact that Lunsford is reportedly being placed at USM-Gulf Coast does not reflect well on how the CoB’s MIS faculty felt about the re-hire of Lunsford.
(April 18, 2008) GH Chatter With Donna Davis’ “ascendancy” to the Graduate Programs Director position, some CoB faculty are looking forward to a greater MIS presence in the CoB’s MBA program. That might be just what the doctor ordered when it comes to saving the MIS unit (department). However, there are still some faculty around who remember that Davis sided with former CoB Dean Harold Doty during the MIS faculty meeting (in the JGH faculty lounge) wherein Doty threatened to eliminate the MIS program. With DD’s administrative ascendancy and the hiring of former MIS instructor Dale Lunsford, it looks like DD is getting her way (unimpeded) these days. That could spell doom for MIS.
(April 27, 2008) 31st & Pearl What is MISsing Here? So, MIS professor, Donna Davis, wants to bring former CoB assistant professor of MIS, Dale Lunsford, now at High Point University, back. I get that. Lunsford has been hired, and will assume a position down at the CoB's Long Beach division. I sort of understand that, though it's still not clear why USM-GC MIS instructor, Fujun Lai, is teaching non-MIS MGT in Hattiesburg. That's a subject for another 31st & Pearl.
(May 27, 2008) 2007-2008 CoB Awards Another academic year draws to a close, it is time to look back and salute some of the CoB faculty members would will not otherwise get their just rewards. The following is a list of the major awards:
(July 22, 2008 ) Special Report Changing of the Guard in MIS? An Investigative Series on CoB Faculty Research Credentials The race for "the greatest ever" in the CoB's management information systems unit is arguably the most interesting. Reporters had no idea what would be uncovered once this particular installment began. For what we found, continue on. It is almost certain to surprise most readers of USMNEWS.net, and possibly even some past and present members of the CoB's MIS unit. Of course, the only logical place to begin is with MIS professor Chang-Tseh Hsieh, the current McCarty Distinguished Professor of Management Information Systems.
