(June 18, 2008) Special Report A Bird's Nest on the Ground An Investigative Series on the Use of the CoB for Personal Gain The recent release of the CoB's new journal classifications is sure to lead to a number of interesting reports here at USMNEWS.NET. The analysis of the MKT journal rankings revealed a number of issues with the 2007-08 CoB journal ranking process that was chaired by untenured assistant professor of economics, Sami Dakhlia. Also part of that process was untenured assistant professor of marketing, Michael Wittmann. This Special Report takes a look at how the journals that have published Wittmann's past work were ranked by the CBA of the mid-1990s, and how that ranking was changed by Dakhlia, Wittmann and the other members of the CoB's journal ranking committee. A similar analysis of untenured associate professor of finance John Clark's publications is also presented here.

(June 20, 2008) Breaking News No Raises in 2008, Except for Nail, Dakhlia and Few Others HATTIESBURG – In a 20-June-08 update to The Hattiesburg American's webpage, THA reporter Valerie Wells has informed the USM community that very few USM faculty and staff will be receiving raises this spring. This news came via USM Public Relations official, Jana Bryant, who informed Wells that outside of the usual promotion and/or reassignment raises, no one at USM will be getting a raise in 2008. This result may come as a surprise to many, given that USM President Martha Saunders has informed the USM community in one forum or another that she and her staff were combing the University's budget, hoping to find areas to carve out for merit and/or cost-of-living raises for all faculty and staff. According to Wells' report, Saunders failed in that quest, and there will not be any general raises after her (Saunders') first year in office.
(June 23, 2008) Special Report Dakhlia & Co. Rank ACC Journals An Investigative Series on CoB Faculty Research Credentials
The work of untenured assistant professor of economics, Sami Dakhlia, the chair of the CoB's journal ranking committee, and company is now complete. Having passed the CoB's new journal rankings weeks ago, the CoB's journal ranking committee has yet to post the new rankings to the CoB's web pages, even though doing so was said by Dakhlia to be an essential part of the process. According to Dakhlia, posting the lists to the Internet would give them the credibility needed to move forward in using them in the CoB's merit raise and T&P processes.
