HATTIESBURG --- In light of the recent story at usmnews.net entitled “Nissan at Large .
. .,” reporters at usmnews.net Reporter have re-examined EFIB assistant professor Sami
Dakhlia’s October 2006 teaching trip to France. To reiterate, two sources have informed
our staff that Dakhlia, who taught a two-course, MWF schedule in the CoB during fall
semester 2006, was teaching in France some time over the period October 12–22, 2006.
(May 5, 2007) CoB Civility 101 by Duane Cobb Now, about 25 days into the Alvin Williams regime in the CoB,
we learn just what Williams' plan for "getting civility back into Joe Greene Hall" was all about. It's too bad the
plan was such an utter failure, and that May 4, 2007, was about as sorry a day as the CoB has seen in quite some
time.
(May 5, 2007) 31st & Pearl What is it with the CoB's Economists and Prepared Statements? The 2006-07 academic
year went out like the lion it rode in on. What began with an ill-advised, unannounced prepared statement read
by EFIB Chairman George Carter ended with an ill-advised, unannounced prepared statement read by assistant
professor of economics Sami Dakhlia. Of course, Carter's statement back in September of 2006 overturned a
legitimate faculty governance choice in the EFIB, and became a major contributor in what has to be the lowest
point in the history of the CoB. Dakhlia's so-called resolution of May 2007 proved that it's always possible for
things to sink even further in the CoB.
(May 11, 2007) Sami Dakhlia: Deluded or Disingenuous? A recent report at usmnews.net revealed that Sami
Dakhlia, author/presenter of last Friday’s attack on usmnews.net editor Marc DePree, has been pursuing a
strategy to obtain tenure without having to follow the usual path. The following portion of one of Dakhlia’s
emails to the EFIB Department was presented in the previous report.
(May 17, 2007) “Disturbance” The State of USM’s College of Business, May-07 It’s no secret to readers of
USMNEWS.NET that USM’s College of Business is an organization that unraveling more and more with each
passing day. The best example of how far the CoB has sunk in the academic world is the fact that the USM
Police Department had to be called to “break up” the CoB’s end-of-year faculty meeting on 4-May-07, a meeting
that was presided over by new Interim Dean Alvin Williams and whose program concluded with an
unannounced proclamation/statement against www.usmnews.net that was read to the assembled group by
newly-hired assistant professor of economics Sami Dakhlia.
