(July 21, 2011) CoB to Get Scianna Hall As Amy Martin’s 20-July-2011 presser entitled “Southern Miss Alumnus
Donates $5 Million to New Business Building” indicates, Charles Scianna is the heretofore unknown “new
benefactor” of USM’s b-school. By donating $5 million towards the new CoB facility on U.S. Hwy 49, that new
facility will be known to future USM business majors as Scianna Hall.
July 19, 2011) USM Set to Announce Largest-Ever Single Donation According to an e-mail sent to the USM
community by USM vice president for advancement Bob Pierce, USM is set to announce that it has recently
received the single largest donation in its 100-year history. That donation is, as explained by Pierce’s e-mail
below, set to support the construction of a new business college facility,
(July 27, 2011) Dear usmnews.net, The CoB is to be congratulated on receiving a “commitment” for a $5 million
dollar contribution. However, that raises another question. What is the status of the Foundation? In 2009, Dr.
Saunders reported that more than half of the endowed scholarships were “underwater”. Do you have any news
whether the Foundation has bounced back?
(July 21, 2011) 31st & Pearl It’s SCoB Time Just yesterday, 20-July-2011, Charles Scianna presented USM with a $5
million gift to support the construction of a new business college facility. That gift, which is the largest single
donation ever from a USM alumnus, led CoB dean Lance Nail and USM president Martha Saunders to choose
“Scianna Hall” as the name of that forthcoming 90,000 sq ft facility to be located on U.S. Hwy 49.
